Boulevard - Funky Pumpkin

Is it worth drinking? Neh

Drinkability: 2
Smoothness: 4
Flavor: 1
Bitterness: 2

This is seriously funky! Personally I don't care for it at all, it lives up to the name "Funky" as in it tastes like a pumpkin ale, placed in a milkshake mixer with 2 month old sour 2% milk. They are living on the "wild" side here. This Brett beer is FUNKY, and I really don't think that it mixes well with pumpkin. The pumpkin taste is subtle at the finish, and barely present anywhere else. You can taste hints of cinnamon and other spices, but the focus here was clearly on the FUNK, and not much else. Its good that brewery's branch out, and try new things, but this should be in a funky/wild/brett class all by itself. If your into this kind of flavor more power to you, I am not. I got agreements from patrons around the pub, while it is worth tasting to see if it fancy's your palate, I would seriously try a sample first. Boulevard is an excellent brewery, and I am pleased to see that they are doing things "off the wall" and "out of the norm" I personally just couldn't grasp the taste of it.

Central State - Garden Leipzig Gose

Is it worth drinking? - Yeh

Drinkability: 7
Smoothness: 6

This beer is pretty good, for all you sour/gose fans our there. Though I had higher hopes for this beer, advertised on the can as a Leipzig Gose with Lemon Peels, that is 100% Brett yeast brewed. It was a bit more tart than most gose's with a very slight hint of lemon. Overall making this not to different from most standard gose's out there. I don't have to much else to say on this one, I haven't tried anything else from Central State. I am interested in paying them a visit, and trying a couple flights/samples. They are a 100% Brett Brewery. Which means they use wild yeast in all their brews! Check more of them out here: Central State Website

P.S. My curious puppy wolfdog Anju, is not allowed to consume alcoholic beverages! (Shes not old enough!)
